Things aren't too bad my end, got my eye on an Avenger if I can put the funds together, it's supposedly got T&T, but the advert doesn't say how much.

Any poking would have to be done after I commit to buying. It's a £40 train ride one way if booked in advance and it's not like ebay where you can send a local to take a look for you. That site had security loopholes to jump through in order to make contact so it's a lot of hassle considering I don't actually know anyone in or around Bristol. I don't feel comfortable asking on R-R incase someone decides it's a great deal, sends back a false report then snatches it up for themselves.

I don't understand, there's a massive following ofr rootes cars, so why isn't the site better utilised? Sadly that is an issue for the admin to deal with though.

The Husky and I are still clocking up the many miles it does. Traveled from Norfolk last Wedensday to Bath, then Thursday over to south wales, back to Bath for weekend, now today just leaving for South wales again to collect a large heavy metal frame, then of to St Austel Cornwall tomorrow. not bad for a 50 year old car and 67 year old driver Mike

I don't understand, there's a massive following ofr rootes cars, so why isn't the site better utilised? Sadly that is an issue for the admin to deal with though. My guess is that there are a couple of factors. First is that there are a number of groups and forums catering for individual Rootes marques, and they were established long before this site. For example, there is a Hillman Yahoogroup with about 400 members - it's been going over 10 years. Join that and you can get just about any Hillman question answered. The forum run by the Sunbeam Alpine Club in the USA is similarly large and long-established. Next, there is still some "marque snobbery" around. Quite a few Alpine owners I know of have no little or no interest in the other marques. Some Humber owners (particularly Super Snipe brigade) don't necessarily take kindly to owners of lesser. Just as an example, in Australia, Rootes sold the Vogue as a Humber, not a Singer, so Vogues are allowed in the Humber club. The Vogue estate was never sold here, but a mate of mine has one that was brought in privately (so it's badged as a Singer). Anyway one day he turned up at a Humber Car Club event and was turned away. Cheers, Vic
