My wife recently inherited a Sunbeam Minx. I've been doing research on the Internet, but with all the myriad varations of models out there, I've been having a real problem nailing down exactly what it is we have parked in our garage.
The badges say it is a Sunbeam Minx. According to the taillights it is a 1965. The ID plates say it was manufactured in England (and I'm assuming it was imported to the US). It is left-hand drive, 4-cylinder, OHC, 1725cc engine, 4-speed manual transmission and the turn signal lever is on the right side of the steering column.
Where can I look and what kind of information do I need to identify exactly what I have? Any information would be of immense help as we intend to restore (what little restoration it needs) it and put it back on the road.

OK, do you have the Chassis Number, (VIN) for it? This should be stamped on an aluminium tag under the bonnet (hood). If so, there is a site where you can tell exactly what it is. - here's a link www.team.net/www/rootes/chassis.html Bear in mind that the information on that site is for the UK, and Rootes badged cars differently for different markets: The Minx was sold as a Hillman Minx in most markets. Also bear in mind that vehicles in the US sometimes have the year model as when they were sold, not when they were built. For a 1965 Hillman Minx, the chassis number should start B006 , then have six numbers following - these numbers were issued sequentially, starting at 000001 A 1964 Minx would start B035 and have 5 numbers following. Cheers, Vic
