I bought a 1965 series 3 vogue automatic last week, but today when I got it out on the motorway I was a little concerned with the diff whine when exceeding 40mph. ( I had not been up to this speed in my test drives etc). NOT regretting my purchase in the slightest, but asking for some advice from those with more knowledge. I know it is hard to diagnose over the internet, but any suggestions. The whine is only present under acceleration, softens at steady speed and disappears when foot comes off the accelerator. would it be more likely to be bearings or gear mesh. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I have a 580 mile run to get the car home. Thanks in advance, Denis

It seems that the English are reluctant to help an aussie of convict heritage, but the locals in Oz have made a number of suggestions, which have helped. The car got home safely, and I have been looking into a number of things, cleaning and checking. It is great to have a new toy. Thanks for the people who looked. Denis

I don't think many people visit this forum anymore, so probably not surprising there were no responses.
