Will twin carb set from 1959 Sunbeam Rapier fit a 1960 Singer Gazelle IIIa?

That depends on whether it is from a Series 2 or Series 3 Rapier. Let me explain - Rapiers changed from Series 2 to Series 3 in 1959, so a 1959 Rapier could be either. The Series 2 had the Iron Head motor (same as the Gazelle 3A) but the series 3 Rapier had the alloy head motor (same as the Sunbeam Alpine Series 1). Iron head motors have a different Inlet/Exhaust port sequence to Alloy head motors, so the manifolds and camshaft are different.
So how can you tell what the twin carb set is from? Well, at the risk of sounding like Old McDonald the farmer, the alloy head has port sequence E-I-E-I-I-E-I-E. The iron-head motor has port sequence - E-I-I-E-E-I-I-E) . Put another way, an alloy head inlet manifold will have single runners at either end, and a paired runner in the middle. An iron head inlet manifold will have two paired runners seperated by a gap.
Cheers, Vic

Enclosed is a picture of the twin carb set. It is not identified as a series 2 or 3. I hope the picture will help in determing if this set would fit on a 1960 Singer Gazelle IIIA that was came with the twin set installed from factory. Attachments:

OK, the manifold in the picture has two paired inlet runners, seperated by a space. It is therefore for an iron head car, so it must be from a Series 2 Rapier and it will fit your Singer Gazelle IIIA
